The interlining of a tie is crucial because it helps a tie to drape, but because it is never seen, it is often completely neglected by tie makers.

We use a double woven wool mix for our interlining because it provides the perfect balance to such thick silk, giving it a soft, luxurious feel whilst still being robust enough to support the silk throughout it’s life.

Using a quality interlining also gives the tie body, adding to the natural volume of the silk to give the tie a three dimensional quality that stops it looking flat.

Traditional interlining is white to prevent it impacting the colour of the tie where it shows through the silk.  The thickness of our weave means it has no gaps visible to the naked eye, but we continue to use the same white interlining as our craftsmen are accustomed to working with it.
